about me

Why did I decide to do this website? After about 8 years of reading one-and two-syllable rhyming books to my kids, my brain felt quite atrophied! Don’t get me wrong – being a mom takes a lot of creative work. My brain just did not always get much growing room.

Now that all my kids are out of diapers and are able to pour their own cereal, it is time to start challenging myself again. I am currently writing – poetry, book manuscripts, articles, and other little bits and pieces. I am not sure where these are going to go, but this website is a step along the way. If nothing else, maybe someone will be inspired by some of what I have to say!

I chose the name “The Faith of a Child” for this site. The name has a lot of meaning for me. I have worked with children since I was a child myself. The wonder and awe they express at times is so powerful. This past year I have witnessed 2 episodes with 2 different groups of children. In both cases, one child asked a question about faith, and every other child in the group raised their hand with their own questions. Deep questions that were a little scary to try to answer. Scary in the fact that the answers required knowledge and the children demanded simplicity. Both times it was a soul-searing experience.

I am a mom – that encompasses a lot! I teach, clean, cook, nurse, shop, create, etc… I have three boys, currently ages 8, 6, and 4. We live in Texas in a 2-story house with a cat named Midnight.

We have homeschooled for three full years now, learning a lot on the way. I am blessed to have the support of my husband, my mom, and my in-laws in this venture. We are part of a co-op at our parish that meets almost every Friday during the fall and spring.

I hold a Master’s in Theological Studies from the John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family. I was the Elementary Coordinator of Religious Education at our parish for almost 2 years, ending when our second child was born. Now, I am a full-time stay-at-home mom, volunteering in many ways at our church.

So, that is a little about me. Enjoy the site. My web developer is going to work hard to make this a great site (or else he sleeps on the couch – ha ha ha!).
